The power of an Xbox 360 controller, in your phone
How it works

Playing in under five minutes

One download has everything you need for both the PC and the phone.

1

Set up your PC

Open the download and run the small server program. It shows a short address on screen and waits for your phone.

2

Connect your phone

Install the app, type in the address from your PC, and tap Connect. Both just need to be on the same Wi‑Fi.

3

Pick up and play

That is it. Your PC now treats the phone as a real controller. Open any game and start playing.

Every phone on the couch is a controller waiting to happen.

Features

Feels like a real controller, because your PC thinks it is one

Nothing to configure per game. If a game supports a controller, it supports droidOSS.

4 players at once

Everyone's phone becomes a controller. Game night for four without buying a single gamepad.

Feels instant

Your taps reach the PC 125 times every second, so the game reacts the moment your thumb moves.

Sticks that feel right

The analog sticks are tuned to move smoothly in every direction, not twitchy or jumpy like cheap remapping apps.

Your layout, your rules

Drag any button, stick, or trigger where your thumbs want it, resize it, and save it.

Private by design

Everything stays inside your home Wi‑Fi. No account, no tracking, nothing sent to the internet.

Free, forever

Open source with no ads and no paid version. The full code is public for anyone to check or improve.

In action

Not a mockup. This is game night already happening

Help droidOSS reach the app stores

Right now installing takes a few extra taps. Getting droidOSS on the Play Store and App Store makes it a one tap install for everyone, and the only thing in the way is two developer fees.

Donations go by UPI directly to the developer, with no platform taking a cut.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Does it feel laggy?

The phone sends the complete controller state 125 times per second over raw UDP on your local network, and stale packets are dropped rather than queued. The initial release was tested with EA FC 26 with no perceptible lag. For best results put the phone on 5 GHz Wi‑Fi and the PC on Ethernet.

What do I need to use it?

A Windows PC (x64), an Android phone, and both on the same Wi‑Fi network. The release download includes the server, the app, and the ViGEmBus driver installer. The server needs no .NET installation.

Which games work with it?

Any Windows game that supports Xbox 360 controllers through XInput, which is nearly all of them. Because ViGEmBus creates the controller at the driver level, games cannot tell the difference from real hardware. If a Steam game ignores input, disable Steam Input in that game's properties.

Can we play local multiplayer?

Yes. Up to four phones can connect at the same time, which is XInput's own limit. Each phone appears as its own controller.

Why does Windows warn me about the server?

The executable is not code signed yet, because signing certificates cost money, so SmartScreen shows a caution screen. Click "More info" then "Run anyway". The full source is on GitHub if you would rather build it yourself, and donations help us afford a certificate.

Is my data safe?

Traffic goes directly from your phone to your PC over your local network and never touches the internet. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry, and being open source means anyone can verify that.

Is droidOSS really free?

Yes. droidOSS is licensed under GPL 3.0 with the complete source on GitHub. It builds on ViGEmBus by Nefarius and includes derived code from PadConnect under the same license.

Can I change the button layout?

Yes. Since v0.1.1 you can move and resize every control from the home screen and save your layout. Every standard Xbox 360 control is there: both sticks with clicks, D pad, ABXY, bumpers, triggers, Back and Start.

What about iPhone?

An iOS client is on the roadmap, but Apple charges $99 per year just to publish. That is exactly what the support goal above covers, so if you want droidOSS on your iPhone, that is the fastest way to make it happen.

My phone will not connect. What do I check?

Make sure the server window is still open, the address matches exactly, and both devices are on the same Wi‑Fi with AP isolation turned off on your router. If Windows does not show the controller in joy.cpl, reinstall the ViGEmBus driver and reboot. Server and app versions must come from the same release.
